Dingbats Quizzes with Answers

Dingbats are our favourite kind of quiz to make, and judging by how many we've made, that probably shows. A dingbat is a picture puzzle where a combination of images, letters and numbers spells out a word or phrase, so instead of a photo of a TV show you get a visual pun that has to be decoded. They're brilliant for mixed groups because they reward lateral thinking as much as knowledge, and there's nothing like the groan when a table finally works out that one of our clues was built around a very small Scottish word.

Every quiz on this page works the same way. There are 12 dingbats on one printed sheet with space to write each answer, a quiz master answer sheet, and a clues version where some letters of each answer are filled in, so you can make it easier for children or harder for the smug table in the corner. They're all instant PDF downloads, and every Etsy listing has a full preview so you can see exactly what you're getting. We've described each one below with a hint at one of our favourite clues, without giving the answer away.

TV show dingbats

TV show dingbats are the most popular quizzes we make, and there's one for every decade from the sixties onwards, with separate British and American versions so you can pick the shows your guests actually watched. For photo-based TV rounds rather than dingbats, have a look at our television quizzes.
